About the author

Just call her “Jo.” (When she worked as a telephone nurse, everyone heard it as “Jill.”) She had many jobs as an RN. She also had three children. All girls, all natural, now all grown up. She was married twice, a widow of both, her mother is still living. Jo is 73 and a grandma. “When you get to be in your seventies, you’ve seen a lot of things.” She calls herself a know-it-all; some say it behind her back. An omniscient third-person party writing her first book, she narrated stories through lessons she’s learned and fit them into a novel: “The Nicest Word.” She writes about sin and saints and devils on earth and love and loss and forgiveness. She says there’s something in it for everyone. Last summer in Italy on a train, she read Catcher In The Rye; she liked the juxtaposition. She cooks and paints and sews and sings.
