Almost sixty years ago, a woman disappeared into thin air after having dinner with a co-worker. There were no clues, no reasons for her to leave. At least, that is what everyone thought.
Ally Malcom’s friend Mary Hughes has always wondered what happened to her husband’s aunt. He was born after she disappeared, so he never discussed it with her. Her in-laws were always reticent about discussing it as well.
Mary has just enough curiosity and information for the two of them to start doing some sleuthing of their own. They come across some interesting information that makes them wonder if Mary Hartwell Littlejohn could have staged her own disappearance. After all these years, there may be an answer to what may have become of her.
What really happened all of those years ago? This book is a work of fiction, however, the author’s curiosity and interest in missing people spurred her to examine the possibility that a person could disappear, for whatever reason, and have enough moxie to make a life for her or himself. This is a story of what such a decision would do to loved ones, one’s guilt, and the grit they would need to endure the rest of their life for the actions they took.

About the author

I was an RN for 25 years. I attended Georgia State College as an English Major. But medicine was my calling and I am very happy I had all of those years as a nurse. For five years I worked for a medical management company and was Director of Operations of it for three years. Then my husband retired and we moved to the coastal Carolina area. I enjoy playing golf, Mah Jongg, but most of all reading. I served as secretary for the local art council for 7 years and really enjoyed getting to know more about the art community. There are many artists and writers in the area I live in and they are extremely talented. The coastal area brings out one’s creativity. In 2020, I developed a syndrome known as Burning Mouth. It is exactly what it is named, the mouth burns constantly. I am in a couple of Facebook groups about it and the stories are sad but informative. I pray for all of those that are suffering with this syndrome. The hope is there will be a cure one day but there are so few people with it that it does not get the funding other more serious diseases receive and deserve. Writing helps divert my attention from this malady and I find comfort in creating characters and scenarios. I hope those of you that read my book will continue to follow Ally in future books.
